The excellent work done by Mrs. Martha Boone, Dr. Woody and Dr. Wm. St. J. Jervey and Dr. Preston last year, cannot be repeated this year without ad ditional instructors as Dr. Woody, and Dr. Jervey are now in the armed service. Dr. Preston and Mrs. Boone have been sick and the work is too heavy for the doctors with the extra load they are now carrying. Miss Martha Mason, the new home economics teacher of the Tryon school, is one of the new instructors for white people. Jacob A. Tillman, principal of the Negro school, and another colored teacher, the wife of Lemuel Ross JtJoulware, will be two certified instructors for the colored people. All air raid wardens, auxiliary police, auto drivers and others doing defense work need this first aid training.
